Has your child been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder?
Do you struggle with treatment options for your child and worry about which route is best?
For parents of a child on the autism spectrum, there are unique stressors added. You are not alone in feeling frustrated or worried about the life your child will have. Neurofeedback is an emerging treatment option for autism. Through neurofeedback therapy treatments, specific brain activation is targeted that can lead to symptom reduction and functional improvement. It can support your child with behaviour management and stereotypies, emotional stability, social communication, speech development, and academic performance.
Neurofeedback and Autism
Studies have shown more than one brain pattern associated with autism. Some patterns are associated with inattention, impulsivity, and hyperarousal, while other patterns are associated with obsessions and overfocusing. Since autism is a spectrum, it is integral to have an initial assessment, including a QEEG (brain map), to know which pattern is present and understand what to work on.
