TRADITIONAL SEIZURE TREATMENTS DON’T WORK FOR EVERYONE

It can cause us to worry repeatedly over daily matters. It can lead us to ruminate about past mistakes or perceived failures. It can cause us to panic, possibly getting panic attacks where we feel our heart racing, body sweating, have shortness of breath, and feel nervous. Anxiety can affect our ability to work productively, to feel comfortable in our relationships, and our ability to sleep and eat.

TREATMENTS CAN INCLUDE A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING:

Psychotherapy (in person or virtual)

Neurofeedback

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH NEUROFEEDBACK

Neurofeedback understands how seizures occur and helps with your specific condition. Partial seizures occur in localized areas of the brain, while generalized seizures occur in large areas. Between individuals, the way your brainwaves act varies widely, including where the seizure occurs, the wave lengths affected, and the severity of the episodes. To treat you properly, it is important than a QEEG assessment be performed before starting Neurofeedback training. For those who have been treated with Neurofeedback, the results were consistent and promising across different types of epilepsy; approximately 70% of patients showed a considerable reduction in seizures.

Neurofeedback and Seizures

Neurofeedback has been used to treat seizure conditions in the United States for over 30 years. In Canada, this treatment is relatively new but is still backed by vast scientific literature and studies. Neurofeedback treatment is effective at reducing the frequency and severity of seizures and is a non-invasive technique compared to some existing treatments.
